 Commercial
  • Promote the sales of products by spotting and seizing sales opportunities, offering alternatives solutions to problems and suggesting add on sales in order to achieve the established sales target.

 Customer
  • Meet the needs of customers by being understanding and sensitive to diverse customers, by initiating and developing effective working relationships with the customer and by establishing trust and confidence with the customers.
  • Determine the customers' requirements, to prepare a preformed invoice.

 Finance Manager, BBC Cairo

Job Introduction

The International Operations (IO) team supports all BBC News Group bureaux. The Finance Manager reports to the International Hub Bureau Manager, Cairo. You will be responsible for the supervision of the financial affairs of the Cairo Bureau and will deputise for the International Hub Bureau Manager when needed.   This role will ensure that BBC's financial guidelines are followed while complying with Egyptian laws.
The key task of this role is to provide efficient functioning of the office finances, and to give reliable support to the editorial activity of the BBC Cairo Bureau by supervising the finance area for all divisions, in compliance with the strategic priorities of all parts of the business. In doing so, the post holder will work with the International Bureaux Finance (IBF) and International Operations teams and the International HR Business Partner.  You will supervise the work of the Bureau Accountant.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all financial statements; including Management Accounts, statutory accounts, recording each transaction in an appropriate and timely manner in the accounting system as required by the IBF team
  • Responsible for payroll in the Cairo Bureau and making all third party payments
  • Responsible for advances management and ensuring that appropriate authorisations are in place and records maintained
  • Managing BBC's taxes profile, i.e. ensuring all taxes are properly recorded, paid and reported
  • Directly coordinating with the finance and editorial teams in UK for all staff with respect to their respective requirements
  • Directly liaising with the IBF and IO teams on reporting and approvals
  • Preparation and submission of monthly financial returns, bank reconciliations and petty cash reconciliations
  • Coordinating with staff on travel and other expenses and providing guidance on filing of expense claims etc as per BBC policies
  • Dealing with all payments to all domestic and international vendors, including issuance of purchase orders, processing of invoice and fund transfers
  • Supervising day to day dealings with banks for bank transfers, account openings of staff payroll, foreign remittances, working through the IBF team where appropriate and in line with agreed policies and process

Are you the right candidate?

  • Fluent spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Experience in financial reporting and ability to structure and read detailed financial data
  • Formal, recognised accountancy qualification
  • Sound book keeping experience including: working with budgets, including forecasting; producing timely and accurate information and reports; advising managers of cost issues
  • Strong planning, time management and organisational skills with the ability to work across many different projects at once
  • People management skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a busy and pressurised environment
  • Ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good IT skills with an intermediate knowledge in Excel preferable

COMPETENCIES

  • NOKIA SRC 1 Certification is required (or equivalent)
  • Retain a working knowledge and skill set encompassing Layer 2 & Layer 3 VPN technologies as well as IP routing protocols (e.g. OSPF, ISIS, BGP, Multicast : PIM, IGMP & QoS) with prior experience with IP/MPLS Networks, addition knowledge for Nokia BNG solution is preferred.
